There are 3 typical deployment options that you should consider:

1. On Premise - Installed on Servers and Machines managed by your IT department. Virtual Private Network (VPNs) or Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDIs) can be used to facilitate remote access. This architecture is most common for deployments that require limited remote access and / or have a policy to deploy application on premise.

2. Private Cloud - Installed in your cloud environment, such as Azure or AWS, managed by your IT department. TrakGene is then accessed through a browser or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). This deployment option is typically used when scalability and remote access is required along with an organizational desire to deploy applications on a private cloud. The organization will have IT / DevOps teams available to manage their cloud environments.

3. TrakGene Cloud - TrakGene host the application and database in a secure cloud environment managed by us. This deployment option is typically chosen by customers that do not have IT services available in house and want the entire deployment to be managed by us.  

TrakGene stores personal and often sensitive data about families and individual family members. Data security and privacy is at the heart of our software development philosophy.

Data is encrypted using AES256 at rest and in transit supporting TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2. User access controls, including MFA, are used to prevent unauthorised access to data. Cloud deployments have data sharding options to allow our customers to define which region of the world data is held in to preserve data sovereignty.

Each country has laws and regulations that govern the protection of personal data and healthcare data. TrakGene's security features and deployment options allow our customers to comply with:

Data can be transferred from existing systems into TrakGene as part of the deployment. We can import from a wide range of data sources, including Excel, Access Databases and other commercial of the shelf genetics software.
